The caller said he was from Mastercard and Visa Security and that a purchase was made from my card which they flagged as being in USA and asked if I made a purchase. I said No as I never use the word Yes in calls like this. He said he would stop the transaction and block any further purchases like this from my card. Then he said he would need to do a check on a few details from me. First question was does anyone else use your card. I said I am not saying and then proceeded to tell him that banks/visa never call like this and he sounds like a scammer. Then he said that I am right about bank operations but due to the pandemic, things have changed. That is when I laughed loudly. and he said it was up to me whether I proceed or not and hung up. This fellow was falling in and out of a few accents. A touch of American, then Indian and then South East Asia, back to American accent. I waited 10 minutes or so and called the number back which had an Optus message saying this number has been disconnected.
